Conquest Bravado — Devlog #1
Starting the devlog a little late

This is technically the first devlog for Conquest Bravado, but definitely not the first day of development.
I’ve already been working on the game for about 1 year, building the core systems, experimenting with the world, the economy, villages, AI behaviour, combat, time progression and a lot of the small pieces that make everything work together.
I just never really stopped to document any of it properly.
So this devlog is me fixing that.
Conquest Bravado is an isometric strategy game built around expanding your territory, developing villages, managing resources and dealing with rival factions in a world that keeps moving whether you are ready for it or not.
At this point, a lot of the underlying systems already exist, so instead of starting these devlogs with an empty project and a cube on screen, I’ll be showing the game from where it actually is now and documenting how it develops from here.
One of the things I’ve been working on recently is the UI.
I wanted the interface to feel like it belongs in the world instead of looking like a generic strategy-game overlay, so I started sketching some of the UI elements by hand.
That includes things like the menu frames and decorative pieces.
The idea is to take those drawings and turn them into in-game elements.
It’s a small detail compared to some of the larger systems already in the game, but it is also the kind of thing that starts giving the project its own identity.
That is probably what these devlogs are going to be about most of the time: not just major features, but the smaller decisions, experiments and changes that slowly turn the project into the game I have in my head.
Since I’m starting the record late, the next few devlogs will probably jump between new development and systems that are already implemented but haven’t been shown yet.
There is quite a lot to go through.
Welcome to Conquest Bravado.
